Shanghai IP Court ruled on a case of software piracy, awarding a fine of 15.05 million yuan
On June 29, Shanghai IP Court made a first trial on a case about copyright infringement of computer software. According to the judgement, the defendant, a Shanghai technology company, must stop infringing upon the copyright of CATTA V5 computer software owned by Dassault Systèmes Co., Ltd. and pay the plaintiff 15.05 million yuan for economic loss and other reasonable costs. It is not the first time for Shanghai IP Court to punish malicious infringers of software copyright, which will protect the legitimate rights and interests of IPR owners.
