Beijing closed 1,845 cases of trademark infringement and counterfeiting from Jan. to Oct.

The goods destroy and fine by Beijing Administration for Industry and Commerce with the theme of “IPR protection”

This year, concerning the issues of key goods and other prominent problems complained a lot by consumers, operators and the social public, Beijing Administration for Industry and Commerce actively carries out the work on anti-trademark and IPR infringement and anti-counterfeiting. As of the end of October, 1,845 cases of trademark infringement and goods counterfeiting were closed, with 60.11 million yuan fined, 11 cases transferred to judicial organs and 16 hideouts of counterfeiting destroyed.

Data shows that as of November, the number of valid trademark registrations in Beijing reached 1.1327 million, with a year-on-year growth of 25.79% and ranking the third in China. Beijing also has 232 China’s well-known trademarks, at the top among the municipalities directly under the Central Government.

Today, Beijing Administration for Industry and Commerce also released ten major cases about crackdown on trademark infringement and goods counterfeiting, including cases about infringement upon exclusive trademark rights, like “One Piece海贼王”, “Wedome味多美”, “PHILIPS”, “MERCEDES-BENZ” and “Audi” and handling of sub-standard goods, like “LANVIN”.
