15,000 cases of counterfeiting under investigation through tight crackdown
As is learned from the Law Enforcement Inspection Bureau of the State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR), in the first half of this year, the law enforcement inspectors for market regulation nationwide digged out nearly 15,000 cases of trademark infringement and patent counterfeiting. In the special action of rectification over the rural counterfeit and substandard food, over 12,000 cases of food counterfeiting were handled and 20,400 cases about quality, metering, certification and standardization were under investigation, valued 275 million yuan in total and with the fines and confiscation volume of 342 million yuan. 55 suspects were transferred to the judicial organs. Local market regulators organized the counterfeit destruction activities. A total of 120 million yuan of counterfeits were destructed on April 26, World Intellectual Property Day in six provinces (autonomous regions), including Henan, Hubei, Sichuan, Yunnan, Gansu and Xinjiang.
The Office of National Leading Group on the Fight against IPR Infringement and Counterfeiting continuously deepens the coordination in four major areas, i.e. Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, Yangtze River Delta, Pan-Pearl River Delta and Silk Road Economic Zone, and promote the establishement of the mechanism of clue transfer, law enforcement assistance, assisted investigation of cases and information sharing. 13 provinces and cities in Yangtze River Delta and Pan-Pearl River Delta jointly launched “Yunjian Alliance” campaign to crack down on e-commerce, cracking 158 cases of infringement and conterfeiting, destroying 89 production dens and 110 storage dens,and arresting 513 suspects. The total value involved reached over 2 billion yuan,effectively purifying the market environment in the collaborative areas.
Next, the law enforcement inspection departments of market regulation system will continue to carry out a series of deployment by the CPC Central Committee and the State Council. According to the specific work requirements by the SAMR, the law enforcement methods will be further innovated and the law enforcement action to combat IPR infringement and counterfeiting will be sustained targeting the fields and products concerning the national planning and people’s livelihood, in a bid to protect the legitimate rights and rights of IPR holders and consumers, maintain the equal and orderly market order and provide guarantee for the facilitation of high-quality development and the building of a quality-driven powerhouse.
