2018-2019 QBPC Annual Top Ten Cases in IP Protection and Model Cases Bridging Administrative and Judicial IP Enforcement Announcement held in Beijing
On June 19, 2019, the 19th anniversary of founding of the Quality Brands Protection Committee of China Association of Enterprises with Foreign Investment (referred to as QBPC) & the 2018-2019 Annual Top Ten Cases in IP Protection and Model Bridging Administrative and Judicial IP Enforcement Announcement was held in Beijing. Nearly 300 representatives were invited to participate in the announcement ceremony, including the officials from the State Administration for Market Regulation, Beijing High People’s Court, representatives from case handling units, foreign embassies in China, chambers, international organizations, IP research institutions, media and QBPC as well as guests from state-owned and private enterprises.
Guests were invited to deliver remarks at the release ceremony, including Lu Zhengmin, Deputy Head of the Office of National Leading Group on the Fight against IPR Infringement and Counterfeiting and Deputy Head of Law Enforcement Inspection Bureau of State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR), Yuan Gaoqiang, Vice President of China Association of Enterprises with Foreign Investment (CAEFI), Wang Jianping, Deputy Head of the Fourth Procurator Office of the Supreme People’s Procuratorate, Xie Zhenke, Deputy Head of IP Court under Beijing Higher People’s Court, Günther Marten, Minister Counsellor and IP attache at of EUIPO, Duncan Willson, IP Counsellor of US Embassy in China, Jean-Baptiste, IP Counsellor of Regional Economy Division with French Embassy in China, Cerian Foulkes, IP Counsellor of UK Embassy in China, David Bennett, IP Counsellor of Australian Embassy in China and Yamamoto, Head of IP Department with Beijing Office of JETRO. Ding Yu, QBPC President delivered a welcome speech to open the ceremony.
Since the annual top ten cases in IP field were rolled out by QBPC in 2002, the case evaluation and selection has attracted growing attention from both at home and abroad. The announcement ceremony organized by QBPC this year has become a platform with international influence for the international community and foreign public and private bodies to objectively learn about the IP protection of China. Shortlisted cases were divided into three major types, including top ten criminal cases of IP, top ten non-criminal cases of IP and the typical cases on bridging administrative and judicial enforcement. 25 cases of all recommended by the member enterprises are selected out on a fair, equitable and open basis.
