Shanghai police harshly cracked down on crimes concerning producing and selling counterfeit and substandard epidemic control materials

As from January 27th, Shanghai police cracked 9 cases concerning manufacturing and selling counterfeit and substandard epidemic control materials, and seized 25 suspects, over 30,000 fake and shoddy facial masks and 13 tons of fake 84 disinfectant.

On February 3rd, Shanghai police cracked 3 cases concerning medical equipment that didn’t meet related requirements, valued at 250,000 yuan in total.

The Economic Investigation Corps and the Fengxian Branch of Shanghai Municipal Public Security Bureau seized suspect Lu and over 2600 undated facial masks by unaddressed factories, valued at 15,000 yuan. It is investigated that since the outbreak of epidemic, Lu purchased 10,000 facial masks at the price of 1.1 yuan each through social networking platforms, and sold them at the price of 1.5 yuan each.

According to clues delivered by market regulators of Songjiang, the municipal Economic Investigation Corps and the Songjiang Branch of Shanghai Municipal Public Security Bureau jointly seized two suspects and over 8000 undated facial masks by unaddressed factories, valued at 160,000 yuan. It is investigated that since the outbreak of epidemic, the two suspects purchased those facial masks at the price of 0.1 yuan each and sold them at the price of 2 yuan as medical facial masks.

According to clues delivered by market regulators of Pudong, the municipal Economic Investigation Corps and the Pudong Branch of Shanghai Municipal Public Security Bureau jointly seized 7 suspects and over 1600 counterfeit branded facial masks, valued at 75,000 yuan. It is investigated that since the outbreak of epidemic, suspect Cheng purchased over 50,000 undated facial masks by unaddressed factories through social networking platforms, valued at 15,000 yuan, and sold them at the price of 1.5 yuan.

So far, the above-mentioned suspects were taken criminal enforcement measures as they sold substandard medical equipment. The case is pending for further investigation.
