The 7th China International Copyright Expo to be held in October in Suzhou

On September 30, the Organizing Committee of the 7th China International Copyright Expo (hereinafter referred to as “the Copyright Expo”) held a press conference in Suzhou. According to the information provided by the Committee, the Copyright Expo, hosted by the National Copyright Administration (NCAC) and jointly organized by Jiangsu Administration of Press and Publication, Radio, Film and Television (Copyright Administration) and Suzhou People’s Government, will be held from October 19 to 21 at Suzhou International Expo Center.

The Copyright Expo is the only national-level regular and comprehensive copyright event pursuant to the principles of building an international, professional and market-based expo, with a mission to promote copyright communication, cooperation, innovation and development. In the form of showcasing the outstanding achievements in the copyright sector and exchanging the domestic and international experience on copyright work, it is expected that the potential of copyright creation can be spurred, the environment of copyright protection can be optimized, the capability of copyright utilization can be improved, the copyright resources can be integrated and the development of copyright industry can be sustained. As a window for the world to be better informed of China’s copyright industrial development achievements and trend, the Copyright Expo can also be a bridge for the international cooperation on copyright protection and transaction.

Starting from 2008, the Copyright Expo is held every other year and has been successfully held for six times in Beijing, Chengdu and Guangzhou, etc. It has won positive response from enterprises of many countries and regions as well as high affirmation from WIPO, governments of various levels and industrial associations. It is becoming an international expo of growing influence.

The country of honor for the Copyright Expo this time is Republic of Korea. Over 300 units and institutions will attend the Expo, including NCAC, the local copyright administrations of provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions, the national model cities on copyright, the national well-known copyright enterprises and associations. Many international organizations, including WIPO, the International Federation of Phonographic Industry and Motion Picture Association of America, will also attend the Expo.

The Copyright Expo will be attended by the high-level officials of the Propaganda Department of the CPC Central Committee, NCAC and WIPO, domestic and foreign copyright-related government officials as well as the representatives from copyright-related units, associationS and industries both at home and abroad.
