The 2017 Annual Report of China on Patent Statistics released

Recently, the 2017 Annual Report of China on Patent Statistics (or “the Annual Report”) was formally released by National Intellectual Property Administration of China (CNIPA). The Annual Report covers patent statistics of domestic provinces, municipalities, autonomous regions and those of 177 countries in 2017, including the applications, grants and validity of inventions, utility models and designs as well as the international patent applications of China, which fully reflects the development status of China’s patent undertaking in 2017.

As introduced, the Annual Report, as a survey-based statistic program approved by National Bureau of Statistics on file, is a comprehensive annual information journal reflecting the work progress of China in patents. This year, it is the first time for the Annual Report to be compiled with the support of electronic statistic reporting system, thus ensuring the timeliness and accuracy of annual report data.

As a key part of IPR statistical system, the release of this Annual Report lays an important basis for the analysis and study of patent development of different sectors or regions of China. In the next stage, CNIPA will continue to improve the capability of IPR statistics in supporting public service so as to better serve China’s IPR development.
