Yunnan police cracked 7,215 cases of economic crime last year
On May 15, it was learned from Yunnan Public Security Department that, in 2017, the police of various levels in Yunnan kept tight crackdown on cases about market order disruption, financial fraud, blocking tax collection and financial management order disruption. 7,215 criminal cases of various kinds were cracked and the economic loss of 1.7 billion yuan was recovered. A batch of key and major cases supervised by Ministry of Public Security, Yunnan Provincial Party Committee and Yunnan Public Security Department were successfully handled, like the online pyramid selling case of Huaxia endowment insurance in Kunming and the illegal fund-raising case on February 28, etc.
It was learned that the public security departments in Yunnan worked with agencies of administrative law enforcement and market supervision, including finance, taxation, industry and commerce and quality supervision to take part in Internet-based financial rectification and “Made in China Qingfeng Action” and launch special rectification against economic crimes including illegal fund-raising, organization and leadership of pyramid selling, production and sales of counterfeit currency, IPR infringement, counterfeiting and tax-related crimes. 202 cases of illegal pyramid selling were cracked, involving 270 million yuan and 455 hideouts were destroyed; 1,192 counterfeiting cases were cracked, 83 counterfeiting hideouts and 14 criminal gangs were destroyed, involving 605 million yuan. Over 650,000 items of counterfeit and infringing goods were seized. The economic investigation team under Yunnan Public Security Department was awarded the title of Outstanding Unit for Work against IPR Infringement and Counterfeiting. 489 tax-related cases were cracked and a number of cross-region tax-related criminal gangs were destroyed.
As of December 31, 2017, Yunnan caught 44 suspects of economic crimes from Canada, Thailand, Hongkong, Laos, Vietnam and Burma, etc and helped 15 province, municipalities and autonomous regions catch 26 suspects from abroad, including Beijing, Shanghai, Guangdong, Zhejiang, Jiangsu, Hubei, Hunan, Jiangxi, Fujian, Shandong, Hebei, Shanxi, Chongqing, Sichuan and Guizhou, ranking the 1st nationwide in terms of number of suspects caught with assistance of other public security force.
