Supreme People’s Court: Further cooperation on IP Judicial Protection needed among countries along the “Belt and Road”

On September 26, the Silk Road (Dunhuang) International Forum on Judicial Cooperation was inaugurated in Dunhuang, Gansu province. Zhou Qiang, the Chief Justice and President of the Supreme People’s Court attended the opening ceremony and underlined in his remarks that, the courts in China and countries along the “Belt and Road”should uphold the spirit of silk road, further deepen their judicial communication and cooperation, expand the scopes of cooperation and coordinate in tackling challengesso as to offer vigorous judicial service and strong support for the common development of China and countries along the “Belt and Road” in their economy and the society and for the smooth implementation of the “Belt and Road” initiative. 

Kairat Mami, the Chairman of the Supreme Court of Kazakhstan, His Excellency Haider Ahmed Dafalla, the Chief Justice of Sudan’s Supreme Court and Maikel Moreno, President of the Supreme Court of Venezuela also delivered a speech at the opening ceremony. They all indicated that this forum would offer important opportunities for the in-depth cooperation between the judicial organizations of the said countries and favorable chances for the stakeholders to pool the wisdom, share the experience and improve the legal system. It is necessary to keep seeking consensus on cooperation, strengthen practical cooperation, set up an effective cross-border mechanism of dispute settlement and protect the legitimate rights of people in a bid to offer more vigorous judicial service and stronger support to the development of “Belt and Road” initiative and to push forward the development of judicial undertaking and the progress of legal civilization in the countries involved.
