Zhang Mao led a delegation to EU and successfully signed a cooperation agreement under the witness of China-EU leaders

From April 7 to 11, Zhang Mao, Head of State Administration for Market Regulation of China (SAMR) led a delegation to visit the European Commission. Under the witness of top leaders from both sides, Zhang Mao and Margrethe Vestager, EU Competition Commissioner, jointly signed the cooperation agreement in the field of competition. Also, as a sideline event of the 21st China-EU Summit, the SAMR delegation and the Directorate General for Competition of European Commission held a dialogue on competition policy, state aid and the review system of fair competition between China and EU.

Witnessed by Chinese and EU leaders, Zhang Mao, on behalf of SAMR of China, and the EU Commissioner on competition-related affairs jointly signed the new Framework Agreement of China - EU Competition Policy Dialogue and the MOU on a Dialogue Mechanism in the Area of the Fair Competition Review System and the State Aid Control Regime.

During the competition-related dialogues and events, both sides updated the respective progress concerning the anti-monopoly law enforcement, fair competition review and state aid and control, discussed the issues of mutual concern in a practical and full manner and made good consensus.

Zhang Mao said in his remarks that China and EU need to further enhance the communication and cooperation in the competition field and lay a solid foundation of competition for the promotion of trade and investment liberalization and facilitation. It is hoped that both sides can take the dialogues this time as an opportunity to turn consensus into positive actions, deepen the cooperation and communication in the field of competition, advance the production of new achievements in the bilateral cooperation on competition policy and jointly create an international business environment based on fair competition.
