SIPO Deputy Head met INTA CEO in Beijing
On July 17, Liu Junchen, Secretary of the Leading Party Members’ Group and Deputy Head of SIPO met the delegation of International Trademark Association (INTA) led by its CEO Etienne Sanz de Acedo. Both sides exchanged views on the IPR issue of common interest and expressed the hope to promote concerted efforts on IPR development.
Liu introduced the latest progress in China’s IPR work to the delegation led by Etienne Sanz de Acedo. He pointed out that according to the arrangement about the reform of government bodies, the reorganized State Intellectual Property Office (SIPO) of China takes charge of registration and administrative ruling about trademarks, patents and geographic indications of place of origin, thus laying an institutional foundation for China to advance the building of an IPR powerful country, strengthen IPR creation, protection and utilization and accelerate the construction of world-class IPR review bodies. He indicated that both sides have been keeping friendly cooperation in IPR overtime and playing a key role in promoting the IPR communication between different countries. SIPO is ready to further enhance the communication and cooperation with INTA so as to enhance mutual understanding and make consensus, and jointly promote the development of IPR undertaking.
Etienne Sanz de Acedo commended China’s achievement in IPR. He pointed out that China has made impressive achievements in the aspect of IPR and has become a world leading country in IPR. As the world’s largest non-profit organization in trademark, INTA attached high importance to protecting the interests of member countries in the overseas market and hoped that SIPO can further support and encourage more Chinese enterprises to join in INTA so as to together uphold better IPR protection globally. He also welcomed SIPO for further exhibiting China’s IPR protection work and achievements to the international community through the channel of INTA.
