SAMR Deputy Head met Chair of ITC under European Parliament

On May 8, Tian Shihong, Deputy Head of State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR)and Head of Standardization Administration of China (SAC)met Bernd Lange, Chair of International Trade Committee of European Parliament.

Tian introduced the functions and reform of SAMR. He said that SAMR is carrying out the commercial system reform. After such a reform, China has moved up 18 spots in global business environment and become the first developing country as well as medium income country to rank among top 25 in terms of global innovation index. Chinese government attaches high importance to protection of geographic indications and hopes to enhance bilateral communication and cooperation on the premise of respecting each other’s legal system, learn from each other the advanced experience and good practice in terms of protection of geographic indication products, bolster cooperation basis and push forward the negotiation process of China- EU Agreement on Geographic Indication.
