WIPO Deputy Director General visited Tianjin and welcomed by Vice Major

On January 17, Cao Xiaohong, Vice Mayor of Tianjin met with the visiting delegation led by John Sandage, Deputy Director-General of WIPO. Both sides had in-depth discussion about their efforts to deepen their cooperation in a wider range of fields.

Cao said that Tianjin will actively strengthen communication with the high-level officials of WIPO by taking part in the cooperation programs between SIPO and WIPO, promoting the full use of WIPO resources about IPR information, supporting both sides in launching the IPR high-level talent programs and pushing forward the building of a strong IPR Tianjin.   

John Sandage said that WIPO was very happy to see the tremendous change happening in China and noticed that the talk of Xi Jinping recently and the gist of the 19th CPC National Congress both reflected the high importance attached by Chinese government to IPR protection. Last May, General Secretary Xi Jinping met WIPO Director General. He also would like to speed up the implementation of work plans under the support of relevant authorities of Chinese governments. He hoped that WIPO could cooperate with Tianjin government to offer better service for PCT users in Tianjin.
