Shanghai International College of Intellectual Property began a new term, including the “Belt and Road” program

With the orientation ceremony for new students of Shanghai International College of IP (SICIP) kicking off, the WIPO-Tongji University IP Law Master Degree Program and the “Belt and Road” IP Master Degree Program also began their first term. 

Sherif Saadallah, Head of WIPO Academy, He Zhimin, Deputy Head of SIPO, Wu Xielin, Deputy Secretary-General of Shanghai Municipality and Zhong Zhihua, President of Tongji University attended the orientation ceremony. A total of 92 students attended the ceremony. 

It is learned that SICIP was founded in November, 2016 and based at Tongji University. Supported by Shanghai People’s Government, the college strives to build a platform for the cultivation of international and advanced talents by integrating the IP teaching and research resources in Shanghai. 

Jointly organized with WIPO of UN, the WIPO Class aims to strengthen the cooperation with international cooperation. The Belt and Road Class aims to serve the development of the national “Belt and Road” initiative and cultivate the IP officials, experts and scholars for the countries along the “Belt and Road”. 

It is learned that as the first national IP college taking the word “international” in its name, SICIP innovates the school-running system by inviting a batch of experts and scholars in IP field both at home and abroad to teach. Their lectures are all given in English and the teaching method is international and practical. SICIP is oriented as an IP research think tank offering top-notch international academic disciplines and exerting global influence, with a view to promoting the development of a powerful IP country, and the building of Shanghai Science and Innovation Center and an IP center city of APAC in a bid to train high-quality IP professionals for China and the world at large.
